A pivotal and integral part of Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, catering to the IT requirements of the entire student and staff community at Amritapuri for more than a decade now and presenting State-of-the-art computing infrastructure, latest IT and Networking resources, up-to-date communication facilities, reliable customer services and dedicated user support- ICTS has emerged as a strong solutions-provider that excels in bettering itself.

We have an excellent and dedicated team of skilled engineers and technicians who form the very backbone of our department.

ICTS caters to computing facilities which comprise over 4000 computers and 3000 Wi-Fi enabled devices throughout the campus. 3000 plus networked desktops and workstations with 100 servers. Our data centre is spread over 1200 square feet and we possess a whopping 15 kms of optic fiber network coverage.

Organization

History of ICTS

Formed in 2003, ICTS initially brought together several related areas of IT infrastructure and telecommunication as a result of the University’s vision for seamlessly initiating new ventures to integrate Information Technology into teaching, learning and research. Over the years the University has grown substantially in terms of departments and academic programs as well as in infrastructure. ICTS caters to the University’s IT requirements and has a team to effectively manage and support the IT infrastructure. ICTS started its operations with just 13 servers and at present has an infrastructure of more than 30 servers, and supporting amenities like NOC (Network Operation Center), various ISP connections, routers, gateways and firewalls, Wi-Fi networks, E-Learning studios, PABX system and UPS.

ICTS has grown manifold over the years and has achieved stupendous augmentation of its resources, thereby providing value-added services to its customers. ICTS is recognised throughout Amrita for its professionalism and commitment to service and excellence. We continue to set new benchmarks for ourselves and we are all set to touch newer horizons

ICTS in a nutshell

  WiFi Network for students

Amritapuri campus network is extended through wireless network for students access. The network is open for access at campus reading room with access restrictions.

  Storage Area Network

Fiber channel storage implemented for main servers. HP EVA storage system is now supporting Amritapuri campus servers for faster and scalable storage access.

  Linux HPC

Linux HPCICTS has presented the vision of building a linux high performance cluster (HPC) to simulate the protein sequence analysis i.e. molecular dynamics simulation like proteins and lipids. The Cluster resource works with blade servers to function in ways that facilitate energy-efficiency and cost curtailment.
