Computing Centre Administration
Formed in 2003, ICTS initially brought together several related areas of IT infrastructure and telecommunication as a result of the University's vision for seamlessly initiating new ventures to integrate Information Technology into teaching, learning and research. Over the years the University has grown substantially in terms of departments and academic programmes as well as in infrastructure.
We manage the general computing facilities which comprise 2000 computers and the supporting amenities like NOC (Network Operation Center), various ISP connections, routers, gateways and firewalls, Wi-Fi networks, E-Learning studios, PABX system and UPS. We support offer students and faculty members for immediate troubleshooting and service their Personal PCs and peripherals.
ICTS now offers consultancy services also at national and international levels with its solid expertise in the area if Information Technology.
Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, Amritapuri campus boasts of one of the best computing networks in South India. With constant upgradation to provide state-of-the-art facilities, the campus has already earned a reputation for its work across a range of computer-based disciplines. The highly distributed computing environment uses cutting-edge computer simulation to solve problems for industry and academia. The entire IT and communication infrastructure of the campus is managed and actively maintained by an in-house group, Information and Communication Technology Services (ICTS).
ICTS has presented the vision of building a linux high performance cluster (HPC) to simulate the protein sequence analysis i.e. molecular dynamics simulation like proteins and lipids. The Cluster resource works with blade servers to function in ways that facilitate energy-efficiency and cost curtailment.
Fiber channel storage implemented for main servers. HP EVA storage system is now supporting Amritapuri campus servers for more faster and scalable storage access.
